After turning them on, the burners quickly shut off automatically. I can only use two burners on the left side which is very frustrating considering the price. Now I unfortunately have to wait for a GE service technician to come out which shouldn't be the case for an appliance of this price. I am not sure if this is an issue with GE's induction cooktop or appliances in general, but hopefully the former since I also bought their microwave/oven wall combination which was even more expensive. Comments: I redid my kitchen two months ago and the designer talked me into this induction cooktop. Love how it heats up instantly and has 10 different temperature controls.

Once you take the pan off the burner, it's not really hot to touch, so safe for little ones. No, you don't necessarily need to change all of your cookware. About half of mine still worked, and the ones I replaced needed replacing anyway. Easy to find inexpensive replacements. Also easy to clean since surface is completely flat.

Don't recommend having a shelf above or too near, since anything falling could break any glass surface. Comments: We purchased a 36 inch Profile induction 3.5 years ago. About a month ago the center burner started working only half, then another burner gives only partial cooking ability and then the two left burners brought up an error message and will not work.

After two visits the company we bought it from decided that they would offer a buy out instead of fixing and told us that if we decide to fix it, it probably will break again and we should take the buyout, which only amounts to less than half of a new purchase price. Comments: This is our first induction cooktop, so bear that in mind when reading. Previously we had a 20-year-old electric glass cooktop. PROs: Dark top shows no stains. Food/water heats quite quickly on settings 6-10. Easy to operate. Excellent burner arrangement. No burned-on food!

CONs: A little noisy (fan, 'ticking' sound for cycling on). Scratches somewhat easily! (Scratched first day, with brand-new out-of-the-box cookware, and a few more since then.) Black top is mirror-shiny, which is hard to keep from streaking when wiping. Comments: We have been using the cooktop for over a month now. Love the sleek look, no knob controls that make cleaning so much easier, adjustable burner sizes & griddle size burner, and the built-in timer feature that we use all the time for cooking pasta and rice.

Initially, I was in complete agreement with the other reviewers/reviews about their disappointment with the difficulty in keeping the glass top clean and cooking splashes/spots not coming off - even with timely and vigorous cleaning. We were experiencing these same issues and with the same frustration & disappointment. It was so bad I even checked these reviews to see it was just us or if others were having these same issues and whether there were any tips and tricks to resolving. I even re-read the user's manual for cooktop cleaning tips - which said to use the sample 'Cerama Brite' cooktop cleaner (with scrubber and scraper) that came with the cooktop before initial use which will aid in keeping the cooktop clean - we failed to do this!

However, once we started using the 'Cerama Brite' cooktop cleaner and scrub pad sample, the spots that wouldn't come off (with prior repeated cleaning) simply disappeared. My husband and I were both stunned at what a difference this product made in the ease of cleaning the cooktop and in keeping it clean. So if you are having these same problems - use the 'Cerama Brite' sample!!! Without Cerama Brite, I would give this cooktop 2 stars.

Now that we discovered this cleaning trick - it now gets 5 stars! Comments: Have used electric ranges most my life, other than a couple years in Europe with gas as well as the last 6 years with natural gas. Definately had become a huge fan of cooking with gas. This is our first go round with induction and we're in LOVE. This cooktop is simple to use with great control over cooking at all sorts of temperatures. One small annoyance, and I'm still doing research to see if it's an appliance issue, or something to do with our induction pans, but on occasion an induction unit (individual burner) will start to make a buzzing noise when in use.

We've tried different pans on different burners in different combinations and it seems to be completely random. It's not always the same burner, or pan, nor is it every time we use the cooktop, etc.
